Lutterworth Athletic ended a long-wait for a home win with a 2-1 victory over Stapenhill thanks to a first half brace from Sam Lockley.
It was a very fast and bright start for the hosts, and the Stapenhill goalkeeper was already tested after a couple minutes with a effort on goal.
Atho then took an early lead thanks to an interception from Abdul Bambah before a composed finish from Sam Lockley, returning to the team this week, scoring his first goal for the club, after just 8 minutes.
One goal very quickly became two when Sam Lockley was put through on goal once again, this time finishing in the other corner of the net to put Lutterworth Athletic into a two-goal lead after just 10 minutes.
Atho's dominance continued throughout the first half, and a very unfortunate decision leading to a disallowed goal prevented Lockley from a first half hat-trick.
Naturally the visitors were looking for a reaction in the second half and Stapenhill started to dictate the match with chances as the Atho needed to hold strong.
Looking to keep a clean sheet, unfortunately the Lutterworth goal was found as substitute Haydn Simpkins took advantage of a close-ranged rebound from a corner to half the deficit and make it a nervy ending.
The visitors threw everything and everyone forward, include the goalkeeper, however Atho held strong to secure just a second home win of the season.
That win also means Lutterworth have won two of their last three matches, and have picked up seven points in the first five matches in charge for Dan Carter.
Next up is an away trip to Wolverhampton to face Bilston Town on Saturday 20th December.
