Gornal Athletic vs Lutterworth Athletic Match Preview
Friday 18th September 2026

Lutterworth Athletic First Team make the trip to Garden Walk on Saturday afternoon to face unbeaten league leaders Gornal Athletic, with kick-off at 3pm.
Atho head into the top-of-the-table clash in excellent form, extending their winning run to six matches with a 2-0 victory away at FCV Grace Dieu last time out.
Brady Middleton scored both goals either side of the half to secure another three points and continue Lutterworth Athletic's strong run.
Saturday's opponents, Gornal Athletic, have made an almost perfect start to the season.
The play-off finalists from last season are looking to go one better this time around and have already put down a serious marker in their pursuit of automatic promotion.
Gornal won all 10 of their opening league matches, and still remain unbeaten this season..
The league leaders have also been prolific in front of goal, scoring 42 times this season at an average of over four goals scored per game.
They were unable to find the net in their most recent outing, drawing 0-0 at home to Heather St John's to end a remarkable winning streak to start the new campaign.
Lutterworth Athletic will be hoping for a different outcome to last season's meetings, when Gornal completed a league double over Atho.
The first encounter at Garden Walk in October 2025 ended in a 2-0 victory for the hosts, with Brad Ward and Traevay Wright finding the net.
The reverse fixture at Ausden Clark Arena saw Atho push Gornal all the way, but the visitors eventually claimed a 3-2 victory.
Taylor Homer scored twice alongside another goal from Traevay Wright, while James McGrath and D'Lanie James were on target for Lutterworth Athletic.
With both sides arriving in strong form and plenty at stake at the top of the table, Saturday's clash promises to be one of the most eagerly anticipated fixtures of the season so far.
As one of the longer away trips of the campaign, any travelling support would be hugely appreciated as Atho look to become the first team to take maximum points from Gornal Athletic this season.
