PREVIEW: Birstall United (H) - Lutterworth Athletic

Lutterworth Athletic vs Birstall United Match Preview

Friday 4th September 2026

Lutterworth Athletic First Team welcome Birstall United to Ausden Clark Arena on Saturday afternoon, with kick-off at 3pm.

Atho come into the fixture on a run of positive results after extending their winning streak with a 3-1 victory away at GNG Oadby Town on Bank Holiday Monday.

Lutterworth Athletic made a flying start at Riverside Football Ground, with Afonso Mvula opening the scoring inside the first 30 seconds after converting a cross from Adam Shaw.

Shaw then got himself on the scoresheet with a brace of his own as Atho secured another three points and continued their impressive start to the season.

Saturday's opponents, Birstall United, have also enjoyed an outstanding opening to the campaign.

They have won all six of their opening league matches, recording victories over Bustleholme, Ingles, Birmingham OJM, Kirby Muxloe, Saffron Dynamo and, most recently, Anstey Town.

Atho will be looking to turn the tables on Birstall after the visitors completed a league double over Lutterworth Athletic during the 2025/26 season, with both fixtures coming early in the campaign.

The first meeting at Ausden Clark Arena in September 2025 ended in a 2-1 victory for Birstall United. Marley Spencer and an own goal secured the points for the visitors, despite Ben Blaze finding the net for Atho.

The reverse fixture a month earlier also went the way of Birstall, with Aiden Neal and Ryan Seal scoring in a 2-0 victory.

With both sides enjoying strong starts to the new season, Saturday's fixture promises to be another excellent test for Atho as they look to continue their winning run and put last season's results right.

We look forward to welcoming you to Ausden Clark Arena on Saturday afternoon, with kick-off at 3pm.
