At Lutterworth Athletic, the growth of our media team opened new doors to give high quality media coverage to our U18 youth sides.

With new volunteers James Franklin and Aiden Thomas joining the team, alongside Savannah Quashie-Smith and spearheaded by Media Lead Sam Bettany of Optimum Creative Media, we’ve been able to educate and expanded what we can do beyond the First Team.

The result? Greater exposure for our U18 Thunder and U18 Tornado, both competing in the Leicestershire Midweek Floodlit Youth League.

Covering the Next Generation

The extra hands have allowed us to capture more than just the action on the pitch. Our media team has been able to:

  • Take professional-quality match photography and video

  • Film highlights to share with players, coaches, and fans

  • Conduct interviews with managers and players

  • Bring matchdays to life through content

We’ve already spoken with Jimmy Lynch (U18 Thunder Manager) and Raymond McMoneagle (U18 Tornado Manager), who shared their pride in seeing their young squads given more attention. The players, too, have felt that extra boost of professionalism, knowing their performances are being documented and celebrated.

Building the Player Pathway

This isn’t just about media, it’s about development. Giving our U18s media exposure is an important part of the player pathway at Lutterworth Athletic, helping them to feel valued as they push towards the Development Team and ultimately the First Team.

It's also is a great way for parents and family members to cherish great memories!

By covering their matches, interviews, and highlights, we are recognising the crucial role these young players play in the future of the club.

A Platform for Growth, On and Off the Pitch

The growth of our media team is also a great story in itself. For volunteers like James, Aiden, and Savannah, this is a platform to gain valuable experience in sports media, from photography and filming to interviewing and editing.

It’s proof that the club is not only a place for football development, but also for personal and professional growth across many fields.

Looking Forward as the Lutterworth Athletic Media Team

Our ambition is to keep expanding coverage, integrating the First Team into regular media output, while continuing to spotlight our youth sides whenever opportunities arise.

The journey of building a dedicated media team has already brought huge benefits, and we’re excited to see where it goes next. For the club, the players, and the volunteers, it’s a real win all round.
