Lutterworth Athletic FC was proud to welcome former Premier League player and manager Micky Adams to our ground and facilities on Tuesday.

With a career spanning all tiers of English professional football, Micky has played and managed at a high level for clubs including Southampton, Leeds United, Fulham, Brighton & Hove Albion, Coventry City, and Leicester City.

In an exclusive sit-down with our own Savannah, Micky shared the aims of his current role, his vision for youth football, and the importance of high-quality facilities like ours.

Now serving as Technical Director at Brooke House College in Market Harborough, Micky works closely with young players, helping them find career pathways both in football and through education.

“My role is to find pathways for players when they turn 18. Whether that's with football clubs here or abroad, we want them to continue playing the game professionally or while earning a degree.”

One of the key ways he supports this is through the First XI Vector programme, which offers young players the chance to combine their football development with a university education at Loughborough.

Crucially, the Vector programme is based right here at Lutterworth Athletic, and Micky didn’t hold back on his praise for the club’s facilities.

Lutterworth Athletic Facilities Earn High Praise

“The facilities here at Lutterworth are first class. Not just the pitch, which is excellent for playing a free-flowing game, but the changing rooms, meeting rooms, and food and drink options too. It’s safe, accessible, and incredibly well located just off the M1, ideal for our players coming from Loughborough.”

He emphasised how vital quality infrastructure is for young talent, stating that players are more likely to stay engaged with the sport when they’re supported in a professional, enjoyable environment.

Looking Ahead for Micky Adams

Looking ahead, Micky hopes to deepen the relationship between Lutterworth Athletic and Vector First XI, with ambitions to reach even more young players and grow the programme further.

Shout-Out to Our Interviewer

A special mention goes to Savannah, who conducted just her third ever interview and her first with someone outside the club.

Despite some natural nerves, she did a brilliant job capturing the insights of someone with Micky’s stature in the game.
