Ahead of the first pre-season training session of 2025/26, our Sam spoke to First Team Manager Ben Steane.
The gaffer shared his thoughts on last year’s campaign, what he’s expecting from pre-season, and why he believes this could be a very exciting season for the club.
Below are snippets from the interview, with the full interview available to watch HERE.
Reflecting on Last Season
“Mixed bag really. We bought in a whole new squad where a lot of lads hadn't played senior men's football. We finished the season really strong. A good momentum, good dressing room, good together, real good feel factor about the place. So now it's important we kick on and carry that over into the new season.”
Pre-Season Plans
“There's lot of fixtures. I selected them myself. The reason for the large amount of games is we've got lads who have approached the club, they're looking at us, we're looking at them. So there's enough games there for us to look at and get minutes into everybody and work on patterns of play."
Aims and Ambitions for 2025/26 Season
“For me it's important we start the season as we finished last season. I'm confident that if we stick together from where we were last year and secured the additions we have targeted then I think it could be a very, very good season."
A Message to the Newcomers
“I would encourage anyone to come down. From the football we put on, the club is family friendly, the squad is integrated with the club. You can talk to the players after games. It's beyond football really, it's a community club. I would describe it as a happy place to be really. Facilities second to none. So please come and get involved, you'll be made to feel very welcome."
